Featured Project: The McGrath House Located on the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, and named in honor of John P. and Lucy Flemming McGrath, McGrath House is the official residence of the president of Long Island University. The home is often used for receptions, fund-raising events to benefit campus programs, and university-wide functions. The naming gift for McGrath House was given by Lucy Flemming McGrath, the widow of John P. McGrath, a trustee of Long Island University for more than 40 years. The 5900 square foot house, designed to resemble a country farmhouse, was built in 1997 by Jarro Building Industries Corp.View pictures of this project in the gallery. Featured Project: Feldstein Residence When the owners of this North Shore home realized their living space and amenities were not sufficient for the needs of a growing family they opted to recreate and expand it. The result is its spacious, light, airy, elegant and practical residence featuring ample closet space, a kitchen that's equivalent to a cook's paradise and a master bedroom suite and bathroom fit for a king and queen.Jarro got involved with the project when there were only preliminary architectural plans available, executing a complete makeover of the original five-bedroom, split-level home with a construction budget of more than $300,000. The result was a home that bore no resemblance to the original, including extensions on two sides, the addition of a second story, new bathrooms in two new bedrooms, and other luxurious design features. Jarro used only the finest quality products in this remodel, including Kamazeiko marble in the master bath, Timberline architectural roofing, terra-cotta floors and professional-quality kitchen appliances. The home featured Andersen® windows. The Jarro team supervising the project consisted of four certified remodelers. The Feldstein family lived on-site in trailers during the remodel, and as such, the project became a successful collaboration between the client, architect and contractor. The project was completed ahead of schedule - which Jarro attributes to the excellent communication among all parties involved. View pictures of this project in the gallery. |
